This is Obama's economic consigliere. He helps the President craft his stance and policies as they relate to the economy. He also helps craft the minds of future generations at his professor job at Harvard. He was also Harvard's former President.
Summers has worked for other Presidents such as Reagan and Clinton, serving as Secretary of the Treasury under Clinton. Larry Summers is the definition of well connected; so well connected in fact that he was one of the key men in crafting this administration's economic policy. He helped design a new regulatory system for banks, passed out stimulus money he had not disclosed, and recently he was being paid millions by Wall Street for speaking engagements and consulting services. By recently, I mean last year.
The reason Summers becomes a focus is not just one particular event or job he did, but because he is an architect of the money system. He is as much a part of the long standing insider game between government and the finance business as there is. Summers worked to craft the broken system we have today, and has helped create new laws. He was then hired by private firms to show them how to exploit this system he helped create. Again it is a rigged game that guys like Larry run. In this game insiders get rich and little guys like you get broke.
Key Quote: We are inheriting the worst financial system since the Depression. We're inheriting a situation - when people go back and study major banking crises a quarter century from now, the one that America developed in 2007 and 2008 is going to be one of those crises.
